The release of the new Windows Phone 7 operating system has seen a number of new handsets also released. Amongst them is the HTC 7 Mozart. The manufacturer has seen some phenomenal success stories with its recent Android OS smartphones, but how will this new platform compare?

The HTC 7 Mozart offers a dazzling 3.7 inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen which boasts the ability to display up to 16M colours within a pixel resolution of 480x 800. This makes for clear, crisp and vibrant display of on screen imagery, making the HTC 7 Mozart an ideal handset for viewing multimedia such as videos and photos. The screen also features an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate of the UI, along with proximity sensor and multi-touch input. The large screen means that the handset is not the smallest in the world; however this is rarely seen as a disadvantage these days. The handset is also lightweight at just 130 grams, making it highly portable and unobtrusive.

A generous 8 GB of internal storage space is provided, meaning users can potentially store their entire digital music collection along with loads of photos, videos and other files. The internal phonebook can store a large number of contacts, and features the photocall function.

Class 32 GRPS & EDGE are utilised to connect the handset to its relevant cellular networks, whilst access to the internet combines 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. In areas covered by 3G, an HSDPA connection provides download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps (alongside HSUPA at 2 Mbps) whilst a faster connection can be achieved thanks to Wi-Fi whenever users have access to local wireless networks. Bluetooth and micro USB connections allow users to connect the HTC 7 Mozart to compatible hardware devices.

An impressive 8 megapixel digital camera is on hand to allow users to take high quality still images, as well as to record HD video footage. Autofocus, Xenon flash, face detection and geo-tagging are all included as standard. The camera is capable of shooting video footage in HD at 720p, amongst the highest quality available on a mobile phone camera.

The new Microsoft Windows Phone 7 OS works in conjunction with a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor, which allows for a lightning fast user interface which can handle demanding applications with ease.

There are entertainment options aplenty within the HTC 7 Mozart such as a versatile internal media player, and a selection of games, along with productivity features such as an organiser and voice memo recorder.

HTC are one of the biggest players in the smartphone game, with Windows being a goliath in the software industry. With these two companies working together on the same handset, it is certain that it will prove popular.
