You get what you pay for... February 12, 2010 David D. Schultz I'm amazed by the many glowing reviews here for these suitcases.
In a nutshell, these bags are well designed, but the engineering does not live up to the design.
We purchased two 29" and one trolley tote. Immediately there was a problem with the telescoping handles on the 29 inchers. They felt flimsy when extended, and to return them to the closed position, a button had to be pushed "just so" or they remained in the locked position. That was an irritation at the start.
Small locks were included for security (I suppose), and they were a joke.
While the bags look great, they suggest the quality of Chinese manufacture from about 1990. Having read other reviews here, I agree that it's only a matter of time before disaster strikes with these bags.
Hopefully only as I'm wheeling up to the front door of my house, post-trip... .
good sturdy luggage February 1, 2010 frequent traveler (Vermont) This rolling luggage seems well made and should do what it is intended, but it was billed as light weight and roomy, and on both counts it is a bit lacking. The curved corners around the zipper make it harder to fill, and the expansion gusset is on the side of the front flap rather than the main section of the case. I like the wheels and the extension handle for rolling, but there are times when it would be nice to have the handle stop when it is extended halfway.
Excellent quality bag December 3, 2009 Laura (Arizona) I love this suitcase! It's lightweight and expandable. The rubber wheels roll quietly. The handle is nice and tall which was a lifesaver since my husband and I are both tall. Consumer Reports rates this little guy as a best buy and I totally agree. The price was excellent and after 4 flights I'm very pleased with the quality of the purchase as well.
I used this rolly along with the Traveling Toddler Car Seat Travel Accessory and the rolly bag hauled a very full load packed in the bag, along with my Evenflo Triumph car seat and my 30 lb toddler strapped around it AND another Delsey carry-on shoulder bag on top. So I'd say that after 4 flights with this load, that the bag performed wonderfully. It still looks brand new and should last a long time. :)
good carry-on December 2, 2009 Paul Barrett (Asheville, NC USA) This luggage is the maximum size for carry-on luggage at Delta and most other airlines. It works well and is very convenient. Unfortunately, the extendable handle makes for wasted space at the bottom of the luggage, and the expandable top wastes space there when the unit is used as a carry-on.
PERFECT Carry-On! November 10, 2009 A. Balla (City of Champions, Pa) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Purchased this for a trip from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles, Ca. I have never been one to be able to fit EVERYTHING into a carry-on for a trip but with this suitcase it was SO easy.
The suitcase is deep and makes it easy to fit everything into it. The look is stylish and sleek and it has cute little "chrome rim wheels"! I loved rolling it through the airports and really loved the shape of it. Plus the price was PERFECT for what you get.
A few cons though:
- The back pocket is SMALL.
- The font pocket zippers are kind of hard to get to.
- The description shows little loop to hook the curve of you hanger through but my bag didn't come with one.
- The handle sticks a bit when you try to grab and extend it fully.
- It gets front heavy and can tip SO easy.
Otherwise I totally LOVE the bag and do recommend it to anyone who needs to travel with a carry-on but is an over packer like me!
